Marka27 Heineken Mural Project Atlanta

Peace friends, fam, enemies, toy nerds and fellow vandals. I would like to share one of my latest projects with you. "The Heineken Mural Project ATL"
I was one of six artists chosen to participate in this project along side, Paper Frank from Atlanta, Chore Boogie from S.F, Angry Woebots L.A and INKTEN with ClogTwo from Singapore.

I was asked to paint a mural in "Little Five Points" an artsy neighborhood in
Atlanta. The theme for all artists was "Open Your World" and we each got a shot to express what that means to us. My mural was painted on a brick surface 20 ft tall by 100 ft wide completed in four days during some serious HOTLANTA weather! I chose to paint a huge character, the title for the mural is "Nocturnal Wisdom". I feel open your world represents and endless pursuit of growth through wisdom and knowledge. The character represents mankind in a state of meditation while the owl represents the never ending abundance of wisdom we can never achieve to overstand the mysteries and secrets of the universe.

To help beter understand how it all went down check out the videos and
photos from the events here, http://www.remezcla.com/category/hnk-mural-project/hnkmp-videos/

We also had a little time to celebrate the completion of our murals by having
an art exhibit at ABV gallery, check out the opening reception on this video a
clip, ABV GALLERY HEINEKEN OPENING

The Icing on the cake was the final VIP Press event at Flux with a reception for the A3C Hiphop festival & the Heineken Mural Project artists. Dj Premier, Dj Scratch, Maceo of DeLa Soul and many more represented. All six artists created a live painting collaboration during the event. I really enjoyed my short stay in
Atlanta and hope to return some day for some new adventures. So Big shout out to Art Whino, ABV Gallery and the staff there, Remezcla, Heineken crew, and Paper Frank for showing me the REAL ATLANTA!! On to the next one!!

20 Years On & Strong...

Marka27 New Website & 20YEARS! Promo

To celebrate this 20th anniversary "in the game", I've officially re-launched the Marka27 website with a new look, newest work, and store all in one.
I'm also hooking up 20% off every item in my shop until Friday May 24th.
Just type in promo code: 20YEARS! when you check out.

Twenty years ago around this time I picked up a spray can for the first time. I was terrible and really sucked at it but all big things have small beginnings. I have made great friends, some enemies, had the best and worst of times, but I wouldn't take back a moment from it all. This journey, with the help and guidance from fellow writers, artists, fam and friends, has brought me to the level I'm at now. Dallas, Boston, Los Angels, Brooklyn are all home to me now because of the love and support each city has to offer...
Much love and respect to Infinity Crew, A.L.A Crew, 3A, Fly I.D, C.O.I, U.D, S.M, Debt, Clark, Zone, Problak, Odesy, Vyal, Manone, Jesse Hernandez, Lev, Toy Tokyo, Kidrobot, Threezero, My Plastic Heart, Bic Plastics, DKE Toys, Vinyl Pulse, and especially my wife and kids for standing by me through thick and thin. There are so many more people to thank from the span of 20 years so THANK YOU! You know who you are!!
I'm looking forward to the next 20 years -"God willing" -This journey is just beginning! The streets will be talking, my fellow toy nerds will soon be blogging about new vinyl toy projects in the works, and so much more jumping off this year!

Peace Out and God Bless!

Marka27 Solo Show Closing and Mexico D-F Recap

After a successful opening night for Marka27's "Neo Indigenous" solo show in Los Angeles featuring
artist "Problak" in the front gallery at Crewest. Marka27 set off to visit his native land Mexico with his lovely
wife "Liza Quiñonez". The destination is Mexico D-F Distrito Federal. The trip was a total of five days and an
incredible experience filled with politics, culture, ancient history, street art, graffiti, designer vinyl, delicious food and good friends with good vibes! It goes without saying words cannot describe how amazing the experience was. It was a humbling experience seeing the pyramids at Teotihuacan, meeting amazing local artists and designers. Marka27 and Liza would like to thank the people of Mexico D.F specifically Oscar from "Vinyles Chiles" Victor Hugo Celaya from "Arto" Art Beyond Museums, and Gonzalo from "Mammut" for hooking up a wall for Marka to paint on the last day. Thanks also to Libre, and Gato for the beers and good laughs! We hope you enjoy the photos and highly recommend Mexico D.F for your next adventure. Please keep in mind this is the
last week you can see "Neo Indigenous" @ Crewest so get your ass out there!!!

NEO INDIGENOUS Opens at Crewest Gallery THIS SATURDAY 7.7.12

Victor "MARKA27" Quiñonez brings his critically acclaimed new body of work

110 Winston St. Los Angeles, CA

Please join us for the Opening Reception: THIS Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 7-10pm

Neo Indigenous celebrates Marka27's highly-anticipated return to Los Angeles. Representing a shift in the artist's cultural consciousness, Neo Indigenous embodies Marka27's quest to bridge past with present, illustrating his yearning to bring deeper meaning to both old and new art forms. By juxtaposing ancient elements with contemporary design aesthetics, Marka27 reveals both a connection and a disjuncture in the process. Challenging viewers to confront the existing practice of commodifying art, the exhibit leaves a lasting impression-- a mark Marka27 has predicated his reputation on.

Using multiple mediums such as paintings, collectible vinyl toys and speakers, silk screen panels, and prints, Neo Indigenous is a sensory feast of the artist's ability to float seamlessly between varying art forms. As a special treat and tribute to a city he once called home, never-before-seen works will be unveiled and the artist himself will create a live installation piece. Having worked with clients such as Pioneer Electronics, VH1, Disney, Scion, and Kidrobot, Marka27's LA premiere is the go-to event of the summer!
